Commissioner Goldberg has asked me to respond to your letter of September
24, 1993,
regarding your client's difficulty in changing her gender designation
on her motor vehicle
operator's license.
I have advised our Branch Operations Division that a letter from a health
care provider
attesting that the applicant is in active treatment and is living full
time according to the
requirements mandated by the Standards of Care for Sexual Reassignment
is sufficient
documentation to effect the license change your client desires. This
information will be
forwarded to our branch offices via memorandum from this office, thereby
eliminating any
obstacles your client or any other individuals might have in the future.
